In Europe, it is estimated that one in every 20 people over the age of 65 has Alzheimer’s disease and these numbers are predicted to double in Western Europe and treble in Eastern Europe by 2040. However, a recent report estimated that among those who suffer from dementia, only one-third to one-half receive a formal diagnosis.
